Brooklyn emcee Mos Def has packed up and moved Downtown to sign a new record deal with Downtown Recordings which is currently home to artists like Gnarls Barkley, Art Brut, Eagles of Death Metal, amung others. Mos Def's first Downtown release will be sometime in 2008 and will either be a brand new album or a re-release of his last album "True Magic". In other Mos Def news, the rapper recently completed a remix of Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." along with Span Rock, no word yet on when you'll get to hear them "D.A.N.C.E." Mos Def has been busy lately helping to lead the charge in support of the Jena Six, six African-American teenagers in Jena, Louisiana charged with attempted murder after the beating of a white schoolmate. The beating was allegedly in retaliation for white students' hanging of nooses on school property. Mos helped organize a mass walkout and protest in Jena in late September. DUB MD
