RapTalk.net Exclusive Q&A Interview Session w/ D.V. Alias Khryst

Raptalk.net is back with another exclusive artist Q&A session this time round with Brooklyn's own D.V. Alias Khyrst. He sits down and chops it up about his career working with the likes of Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Rakim & De La Soul to name a few, his brand new upcoming album "I'm Chosen" and his future plans for the rest of 2007 / 08. Dub MD: D.V. Alias Khryst, What's good?
D.V. Alias Khryst: What's good my G?

Dub MD: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now?
D.V. Alias Khryst: Ups and downs, promises that were never kept, bad business, but then on the flip side there has been a lot of great experiences for me in this music business like hooking up with a lot of artists that i wanted to work with like De La Soul, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Rakim, Melle Mel and The Furious 5, I mean i can keep going. So on that side of the fence the grass has been a lot greener, but this game can do a lot to you, if your not a strong person. I'm blessed enough to have a supportive family around me, that alone keeps me grounded.

Dub MD: Coming from Brooklyn, what do you think of the New York music scene right now?
D.V. Alias Khryst: Unity! a lot of Unity!

Dub MD: A lot of people are saying "Hip Hop Is Dead" lately, how do you feel about the current state of hip hop?
D.V. Alias Khryst: It's now a business, i mean it's been a business but it's more about corporate alliances and branding yourself as an artist Hip Hop isn't dead! Some of the artists that's making some this wack music is. (laughs)

Dub MD: Do you have a new mixtape / album in the works? what's it called & what can your fans expect?
D.V. Alias Khryst: YES! i do have an album coming finally!! (laughs) and it's called "I'm Chosen" we have a lot of surprises on it! I think a lot of people are going to enjoy the cd and with god's blessing everything will work itself out, I'm just doing my part, were looking at 2008 for the album to be release. I won't give dates because we're putting the finishing touches on it now, but you guys won't be mad!

Dub MD: With this project, what artists & producers are you connecting with this time round?
D.V. Alias Khryst: The producers are in house we're called Govarmynyt Officials Productions and I've done work with Dangerous LLC who did joints for 50 Cent, Lil Mo, Fabolous, Missy Elliot, etc they did a lot of tracks for G-unit and 50 Cent like Amusement Park, Window Shopper, Lloyd Banks "Hands Up" and Disco Inferno and there managed by Sha Money XL. Chris Styles is the CEO of Dangerous LLC and basically he runs the whole Dangerous situation and me & him grew up together so that's how all of that came together. Along with my partner in crime Wild Urk who's a beast in the studio, when it comes to putting hit records together, so there both a force to be reckoned with. I also have production from Midi Mafia who did records for Fantasia "When I See You", 50 Cent "21 Questions", Tamia, Lil Kim, etc. So i have will rounded project if i may say so myself. (laughs)

Dub MD: What's your label situation like just now?
D.V. Alias Khryst: Very good! Can't say much right now but it's really good! Believe me.

Dub MD: You were recently on a track "Hood Tales" with the Legendry Kool G Rap, How did that collaboration come about?
D.V. Alias Khryst: My boy Marco Polo put that together. It's on his album "Port Authority" it's one of the best hip hop albums out! believe me! not just saying it because I'm on it but it's very true!

Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other emcee out there?
D.V. Alias Khryst: My voice! my spirit and my passion for music, plus I have a very good business sense. And that really sets me apart from every body because most artists aren't on their jobs when it comes to their business. But i am. What don't kill makes you stronger. Ya know!

Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as an emcee in 4 words, What would they be?
D.V. Alias Khryst: Skilful, Smart, Passionate & Honest!

Dub MD: For your fans who haven't seen you perform yet are you planning on going tour anytime soon?
D.V. Alias Khryst: Yes! Very soon, you'll know because I'll have all of the tour dates on my myspace page at www.myspace.com/dvaliaskhryst and that's where you'll be able to find out, so just come by my page and check. They'll be some on there real soon!

Dub MD: What is on tap for D.V. Alias Khryst for the rest of 2007 and beyond?
D.V. Alias Khryst: Pushing my records and my movement! and making a lot of money doing it! We make music over here! In the words of DJ Khaled "We The Best!" (Laughs)

Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs?
D.V. Alias Khryst: Yes! just put god first and everything else will fall into place. God don't make mistakes and a smart person is one with patience so try to have as much of that as you can!
