 Raptalk.net has been given the opportunity to chop it up with an emcee born and raised in Virginia that came to worldwide prominence featuring on the "Streets Disciple" album with Nas back in 2004 for a quick question and answer session with Ill Will Recording artist & Nas protégé Quan. Hes talks to Rap Talk about what hes expericenced so far in his career, his new album "Until My Death" dropping next year and his plans for the future. Dub MD: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now? Quan: After me and Nas did "Just a Moment", I signed to Ill Will / Atlantic Records and popped off a few mixtapes since then go to www.datpiff.com for those. All the while preparing to pop off my debut album "Until My Death". My fourth Mixtape / DVD "Most Anticipated " Hosted by P-Cutta and DJ Silk drops October 15th, go to www.myspace.com/donferquan for that, All in all just heating the street and connecting with my fans etc. Dub MD: Coming from Bridgeport, what do you think of the Virginia music scene right now? Quan: First let me say that Brigdeport, CT. made me but Badnewz, VA raised me and to answer your question I think we getting good light, but we still haven't gotten our justice but it's coming! Dub MD: A lot of people are saying "Hip Hop Is Dead" lately, how do you feel about the current state of hip hop? Quan: Everything has seasons including Hip Hip, However, I understand the opinions of all parties, I love Hip Hop and I am Hip Hop! It is what it is though, Hip Hop ain't dead in our hearts, but its just on vacation! Dub MD: Do you have a new mixtape / album in the works? what's it called & what can your fans expect? Quan: My fourth Mixtape / DVD "Most Anticipated" drops October 15th, my debut album "Until My Death" coming 2008 and I have a Kingz Nation group album as well, there is a problem coming! Dub MD: With this project, what artists & producers are you connecting with this time round? Quan: I don't wanna let that cat out the bag just yet, Just Blaze, Kanye West, Red Spyda are in the line up, of course God's Son himself is on my shit but that's about all ya'll gonna get outta me right now till everything is set in stone!! Dub MD: What's your label situation like just now? Quan: I'm still signed to Ill Will / Atlantic Records and we got big thangs poppin like T.I. say! (laughs) Dub MD: What's your relationship with Nas like these days? Is there anymore collaboration tracks on the horizon? Quan: That's my nigga!!, Big homie helped get me outta that trap, we’re forever good! Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other emcee out there? Quan: I don't think the world has actually seen a male artist that can sing as well as he could rhyme and play the piano for that matter, the rest will speak for itself, the fact of it all is that i have a testimony that god wants to be heard, so I think he gave me every talent possible to have no excuse. Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as an emcee in 4 words, What would they be? Quan: Real, Versatile, Original and Futuristic. Dub MD: For your fans who haven't seen you perform yet are you planning on going tour anytime soon? Quan: Most def, every chance i get! I think performing is one of the highlights of being an artist, i take my performances very serious, I love it! Dub MD: What is on tap for Quan for the rest of 2007 and beyond? Quan: To continue to heat them streets relentless, and have a beautiful career in this music, and not only that but to have an impact on the black community, the troubled youth etc, It starts with music but it doesn't end there. Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs? Quan: Love is a verb, friendship is one soul in two bodies, god first!
