RapTalk.net Exclusive Q&A Interview Session w/ Stic.man (Of Dead Prez)

Raptalk.net is back with the penultimate question and answer session of the year, this time with 1/2 of legendry Hip Hop revolutionaries Dead Prez, Stic.man, who has just released his debut album "Manhood" which is in stores right now. He chops it up with Rap Talk about what he's experienced in his career to date, his new album Manhood and a little about the up coming Dead Prez project. Make sure you check out the new single "Traffic Jam" at the end of the interview. Merry Christmas!

Dub MD: Stic.man, What's good?
Stic.man: The grind is good, new album "Manhood" is out, my wife and son are healthy and strong. Just got out the studio working with Nas for his and Dead Prez new album, I'm Pretty (laughs), Everything is going forward.

Dub MD: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now?
Stic.man: Dead Prez has sold hundreds of thousands of records worldwide, toured from Cuba to Africa, Europe and all over the US. We been apart of a movement for revolutionary change in our life time. We been on major labels RCA, BMG, Columbia and Sony, and now finally have our own company "Boss Up Inc". We have a web site (
www.bossupbu.com), we authored books and we currently have Ammo Magazine and i am the editor in chief. Me and my partner M1 are currently working on the new Dead Prez album for released in 2008.

Dub MD: Coming from Brooklyn, what do you think of the New York music scene right now?
Stic.man: I'm in Atlanta now so I'm kinda out of that loop directly. I've been in Atlanta for going on three years now.

Dub MD: What do you think of the commercialisation of Hip Hop right now, do you think its showing respect to its pioneers?
Stic.man: No, but i think it strives to exploit the legacy with the award shows you see with the old schoolers performing. Hip Hop is "in" right now but they don't show the cultural roots of it enough.

Dub MD: You solo debut album "Manhood" is in stores right now, For those who haven't heard it, what can heads out there expect from it?
Stic.man: A Range of diverse hardcore Hip Hop, Soul and Jazz influenced music and the realest lyrics discussing aspects of manhood. It's not preachy at all but it's all  substance on every track, don't let the cover fool you (laughs)

Dub MD: With this project, what artists & producers are you connecting with this time round?
Stic.man: Khujo Goodie, Young Noble, M1 my partner all me out on it. I got production from Hi-Tek, Sol Messiah, J-Wells and i self produced a lot on there as well. We got great live musicians who can through on the horns, bass, guitar etc.

Dub MD: Being 1/2 of Hip Hop super group Dead Prez, Is there a new Dead Prez album in the pipeline?
Stic.man: Yep 2008 and we started it out working with Nas, It's gonna definitely be that heat for our fans that have been waiting since our debut "Let's Get Free" that's my word!

Dub MD: Can you tell us a little about Boss Up Entertainment?
Stic.man: Boss Up Inc, not entertainment. We are a independent multi media corporation dealing with practical inspiration, information, edu-tainment in the print, film and music fields. We also handle the merchandising of Dead Prez logo products, T-Shirts etc. Our web site is
www.bossupbu.com.

Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other emcee out there?
Stic.man: My political education, my ear and taste in music, my southern background, my diversity of flow and my constant constructive self criticism.

Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as an emcee in 4 words, What would they be?
Stic.man: Real, Clear, Conceptual and Versatile.

Dub MD: For your fans who haven't seen you perform yet, are you planning a worldwide tour anytime soon?
Stic.man: we are touring, stay updated on my myspace page at
www.myspace.com/sticmanhood or the web site at www.bossupbu.com.

Dub MD: What is on tap for Stic.man for the rest of 2007/08 and beyond?
Stic.man: New album for Dead Prez, new movie "Slums 13", new books "R.B.G. Fit Club", my wife's vegan guide book and "The Way Of The Black Fist" afrikan martial arts DVD documentary with an original score i produced and just more bossing up!

Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs?
Stic.man: Thanks to everyone for their continued support, please get the Manhood album is you can and thanks to you for the opportunity to reach out to the people. Much success in all that you do! Manhood
