RAPTALK.NET got the chance to catch up with NYC emcee Pay$oz for a quick Q&A interview...enjoy and make sure you check out the world exclusive "Heart Of Stone" RT: Pay$oz., What's good? Pay$oz: I'm chillin, beathin. RT: For those who don't know, could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now? Pay$oz: I've made a few big moves, Dropped a few mixtapes out on the streets. "Ahead of the Game" was one it did alright on the streets, the one that added the icing on the cake was my second cd "The last of a Dying Breed"...Hit MTV Mixtape Mondays, Rapmullet interview, almost every mixtape site including Mixunit. I'm about 30,000 hits on the myspace with no deal or promo like that. I've been blessed. I can say alot of fans and the music is going real good, getting ready to drop my third cd and its looking alright right now. RT: Where did your name Paysoz come from? Pay$oz: I actually ran through a few names before this one came about. Pay$oz you can say is a urban way of writing peso, if thats spelled correct in spanish. I ran around alot as a adolescent getting involved in a few things, I loved money there for one day I figured thats what I represented Money, which is the root to all evil. I was going through names one day and it came about, I went with Jay-Pay$oz first but I thought about it and was like cats gonna thing im swaggerjackin Hov, so I'm Pay$oz. RT: Coming from the NYC, what do you think of the New York music scene right now? Pay$oz: Honestly theres no correct way to answer that. People say N.Y is lost and no one is holding it down, ect... I honestly don't really listen to music, unless its my own music or someone I really like or can relate to. I believe the scene in N.Y will slowly get back in motion but im not trying to sound like everyone else. Everything has its time and happens for a reason, but N.Y music honestly isnt where it needs to be at. RT: Alot of people are saying "Hip Hop Is Dead" lately, how do you feel about the current state of hip hop? Pay$oz: Thats another question that leads you in a box and stereo typed. I like all types of music and I honestly don't believe hiphop is dead. Hiphop is going through somethings and only a few rappers could fix that. I don't think theres enough new sounds, and real lyrics being heard. When that happens something might spark. RT: You've been consistant on the mixtape scene for a minute, when did u start droppin mixtapes? Pay$oz: Actually I started at about year and a half ago two years. I've been moving ever since, hitting hard and giving the fans what they need. RT: Do you have a new album dropping?, whats its it called & what can your fans expect? Pay$oz: Heart of Stone is the Album coming real soon, at the moment I'm working on a new project, its actually done coming out this month. Hopefully out by the time this posts. I have no title for that yet but everything is basically done except for cover. After that I'm working on a double mixtape with a Houston cat named Young Truth, highly anticipated for those who didnt know about it. The album will drop soon after that, the grind is actually going to the extreme after the new tape..Watch out! RT: Have you been working with any big artists and producers for any of your up coming projects? Pay$oz: I'm not too big on Features, might see Flawless on there but that's about it. Hosting of course my dude On Point, and you might see some Heavy DJ drops. Me and Truth's joint might actually have Lupe Fiasco on there. Besides that I'm in the A getting some love from Joc, Mr. Bently, and a few more cats out there. It's love, keep it humble to the T. Believe it or not I'm the best Underground rapper out right now. Wait til' it's mainstream, you might see me ina video or two real soon. Slowly rising, Team R Sinal Records grind is real! RT: Whats your label situation like just now? Pay$oz: We getting managed by some big names not stating at the moment due to contract reasons. I'm the President of Team RSinal Records, also only rap artist on there although we are looking for artist. Send ya music to: teamrsinal@aol.com with your contact.
