RAPTALK recently caught up with one of the original Ruff Ryders members "Drag-On" aka "The Fireman" and we did a little question and answer update for those who have wondered where hes been for the past couple of years. Drag-On talks about Ruff Ryders, Hip Hop & His New Label. Make sure you watch out for the new Drag On & Hood Enviroment mixtapes hitting the streets soon!
Raptalk: Drag-On, What's good?
Drag-On: Everything is good!
Raptalk: Could you just give a short review of what you've experienced in your rap career up until now?
Drag-On: My experience in the game has almost made me cold hearted but it's still warm, and I also learned that nobody is really your friend!
Raptalk: With you being an artist from NY, what's your opinion on the NY music scene right now?
Drag-On: To be honest I'm glad The South is up right now because that makes hip hop bigger. When I first came out, I came with that southern flavor and I got love, and that was before The South was getting this run they getting.
Raptalk: Tell us how you came to hook up with the Ruff Ryders Movement?
Drag-On: Well to be honest if I would of known how they really are I would of been left...well right now, I've been trying to get off the R and can you believe my own niggas is doing me grimey? They always did me grimey but I was just so loyal.
Raptalk: Whats your situaution like with Ruff Ryders now? are you still with them? Drag-On: Well I've been in the studio, right in the ruff ryder joint, but they just never put me out.
Raptalk: You've been pretty quiet for a minute now what have you been doing since your last project?
Drag-On: 3rd and 4th album been done!
Raptalk: What are you working on right now, or is there anything you've just finished that your fans can look forward to?
Drag-On: What I'm working on now, is my own label which is called "HOOD ENVIRONMENT" and I got that website up too!
Raptalk: Tell the fans a little about your new movement "Hood Enviroment" for those that don't know?
Drag-On: HOOD ENVIRONMENT is for people that is from that kind of environment, our music is street, you how I do. I have 2 artists and their names are "Terra The Dude" and Eyez B Aka Quiet. Lookout for all the mixtape joints!
Raptalk: Sometimes it's hard to stay focused and a lot of artists find themselves hustlin' on the street instead of pursuing their dreams. Did you ever just want to give up on rap and do other things?
Drag-On: I almost gave up at one time but that was just cause of Ruff Ryders, so I couldn't let that stop me!
Raptalk: Whats your relationship with DMX like these days?
Drag-On: DMX is chillin.......
Raptalk: Alot of people are saying "Hip Hop Is Dead" lately, how do you feel about the current state of hip hop?
Drag-On: But back to Hood Environment, we will make hip hop alive, and to be honest, hip hop is not dead. I don't think that statement is fair to The South now that they finally getting their run. So I guess when it come back to the east coast or the west, we going to say hip hop is alive again?? That's not right!
Raptalk: What is on tap for Drag-On for the rest of 2007 and beyond?
Raptalk: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs?
Drag-On: THE FIREMAN IS BACK!! Oh and let everybody know to say to The Ruff Ryders....LET DRAG-ON GO!....LET DRAG-ON GO!....LET THE FIREMAN GO!....LET DRAG-ON GO!
